Game of Thrones Date: Aug 23rd @ 5:14pm EDT
I recently started watching the TV series Game of Thrones ... and I realized in the spread of all events and the storm of plot emotions, when we watch a movie or TV series, we sometimes do not notice interesting phrases and thoughts that the author might want to convey to us ... here are some interesting phrases from TV series Game of Thrones that I liked .... 1) I would rather believe the eyes of an honest man than what everyone knows. 2) People always demand the truth, but they rarely enjoy it. 3) I am not offending your honor, Lord Janos. I deny its existence. 4) We had stupid kings, villainous kings, but stupid villains ... 5) What is is easily confused with what should be. Especially if the former is beneficial to you. 6) Sometimes a very small person casts a very large shadow. 7) Sometimes words can accomplish something beyond the power of swords. 8) The Lord of Light wants enemies to be burned, the Drowned God wants to be drowned. Why are all gods such cruel brutes? Where is the God of fucking and guilt? 9) We are only human, and the gods made us for love. This is our great gift and at the same time it is our great tragedy. 10) Brothels are a better investment than ships. In my opinion. Whores rarely drown. 11) Singers love nothing more than the sound of their own voices.
Be like water Date: Aug 6th @ 5:33pm EDT
Be like water. It is the most malleable substance on earth, but it wears away even the hardest stone. Having no shape, water can take any shape: in a cup - the shape of a cup, in a vase - the shape of a vase, bending around the stems of flowers. In a teapot, it becomes a teapot. Observe how the water adjusts. If you squeeze the wineskin tightly, water will flow out of it quickly; if you squeeze it lightly, it will flow slowly. It may seem that the water is sometimes contrary to nature and flows up the slope, but in fact it chooses any path open to it to the sea. Moving quickly or slowly, water is adamant, and its purpose and destiny are unchanged.

All or nothing Date: Jan 25th @ 5:30pm EST
One person came to the sage and asked: "what is love?"The sage said,' Nothing.' The man was very surprised and began to tell him that he had read many books that describe how love can be different, sad and happy, eternal and fleeting. Then the sage replied, " Everything." The man again did not understand anything and asked: "How can I understand you? All or nothing?"The sage smiled and said," You yourself have just answered your question: nothing or everything. There can be no middle ground!»
Russian Cuisine Date: Jan 23rd @ 2:47pm EST

Russian Cuisine
Olivier salad

Olivier salad is a traditional salad in Russian cuisine, which is also popular in other post-Soviet countries, many European countries, Iran, Israel, Mongolia and also throughout Latin America.

In different modern recipes, it is usually made with diced boiled potatoes, carrots, green peas, eggs, diced boiled chicken (or sometimes ham) with salt, pepper, dressed with mayonnaise.

Okroshka

Okroshka is a cold soup of Russian origin. The classic soup is a mix of mostly raw vegetables (like cucumbers, radishes and spring onions), boiled potatoes, eggs, and a cooked meat with kvass.

Later versions that first appeared in Soviet times use kefir, or mineral water instead of kvass.

Varenye

Varenye or varenie is a popular whole-fruit preserve, widespread in Eastern Europe (Russia, Ukraine, Belarus). It is made by cooking berries, fruits, or more rarely nuts, vegetables, or flowers, in sugar syrup.

Blini

Blini are thin, flat cakes prepared from batter and cooked on a hot frying pan â€" first on one side and then flipped to cook on the other side. Blini are eaten with mushrooms, meat, jam or sour cream.

Pelmeni

Pelmeni are considered as the heart of Russian cuisine. They consist of a filling wrapped in thin dough. The filling can be minced meat or fish. Pelmeni are often served with sour cream (smetana).

Vinegret

Vinegret is a salad in Russian cuisine which is also popular in other post-Soviet states. It includes diced cooked vegetables (beetroots, potatoes, carrots), chopped onions and sauerkraut. Other ingredients, such as green peas or beans, are sometimes also added.
Where are you now? Date: Jan 22nd @ 5:06pm EST
Will there always be black and white stripes in life?
The master smiled.
" At the majority. But some realized that there was something else and left their attention there.
" How do I know or feel this something else?
" It's very simple, if you are upset, then you live in the past, if you are concerned about something, you live in the future, if you experience bliss and ease, you live in the present.
The master looked into my eyes:
" Where are you now?"
Parable of love. Date: Jan 21st @ 3:35pm EST
- What is the difference between "Like" and "Love"?
- When you like a flower, you pick it. But if you love a flower, you water it daily.
Scott of the Antarctic Date: Jan 21st @ 2:33am EST
Do you know what “centenary” means? It means the 100-year anniversary of something. This week is the centenary of the arrival at the South Pole of the first British explorers , led by Captain Robert Scott.

The English word “Arctic” means the area of the world around the North Pole. The Arctic is not land, but sea â€" frozen sea. However, the South Pole is in the centre of an icy continent, Antarctica, and 100 years ago Antarctica was still largely unknown. There had been expeditions to explore some of the coastal areas, and some of these expeditions had ventured inland. But the centre of the continent, and the South Pole itself, was unexplored. No-one had ever been there.

Robert Scott was born in 1868. He joined the Royal Navy at the age of 13. Over the years, he rose in rank, and became an expert in naval torped000oes. In 1899, he heard that the Royal Geographical Society in London planned to send an expedition to Antarctica. Although he had no previous experience of Antarctica, he was enthusiastic about the challenges of the expedition, and he volunteered to lead it.

The expedition left for Antarctica in July 1901, and spent two years in the frozen continent. It did some very useful scientific work, and a group led by Scott travelled far into the interior of Antarctica, to a point only 750 kilometres from the South Pole itself. But the extreme cold fo0rced the party to turn back, and they returned to their base a month later ill and exhausted. The expedition had come to Antarctica with very little experience of cold climates. The explorers had to learn how best to travel over the ice and snow. They had brought dogs with them to pull their sledges, but they did not understand how to use the dogs effectively. Scott concluded that, although dog sledges could be useful, the only way that men could reach the South Pole was on foot, pulling sledges containing food and tents behind them.

The British government then decided that Scott’s expedition in Antarctica was costing them too much money, so two ships were sent out in 1903 to bring the explorers back to Britain. Scott returned home a popular hero. He was promoted to the rank of captain, and was invited to visit the King. He quickly decided to make a second expedition to Antarctica, and that this time he would reach the Pole. It took a long time, however, to find the money for the expedition, and a suitable ship, and to recruit the right people to go with him.

Scott’s second Antarctic expedition set out in 1910. Things did not go well. On the way to Antarctica, Scott received news that the Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen was also on his way to the South Pole. Scott’s ship, the Terra Nova, became stuck in the ice for 3 weeks before it could reach land. He had brought ponies and motorised sledges with him to transport men and supplies, and a few dogs. One of the motorised sledges fell into the sea, as did several of the ponies. The ponies proved to be not very useful. Some of them died, and others had to be shot. Scott was now convinced that he was right â€" the only way to travel to the South Pole was to walk.

In November 1911, the journey south began. Over two months later, on 17 January 1912, Scott and four others at last reached the South Pole. They found a tent, and a Norwegian flag. Amundsen had beaten them. He had reached the Pole 5 weeks earlier. Scott’s party were heartbroken as they turned to go back to their base, 1300 kilometres away. The weather got worse and worse, and their supplies of food ran low. Cold and hunger sapped their strength. Two members of the party died on the journey. The remaining three men set up camp only 18 km from a depot where the expedition had left food and other supplies for them. They got no further, and all three died of cold on about 29 March.

Why did Amundsen win the race to the Pole? The main reason was that he had previously led an expedition to find a sea route through the North-West Passage, the frozen sea to the north of Canada. He had learned from the Inuit people of northern Canada that clothes made of animal skins were the only way to keep warm in very cold climates. He also learned how to use dogs to pull sledges, and the whole of his journey to the South Pole was accomplished with dogs. Scott had been wrong to think that the only way was to walk.

Nonetheless, Robert Scott remained a very popular national hero in Britain for many decades. Nowadays, experts are more critical of Scott’s failings, and about some of the decisions he took. But his courage, and the courage of his fellow explorers, is beyond doubt. We love brave, fearless heroes in England, particularly heroes who fail. Our national football team, and our tennis players, are just like Scott â€" brave, the best in the world, except that they don’t win.
A Parable About Poverty and Wealt Date: Jan 20th @ 1:52pm EST

Once upon a time Poverty and Wealth came up to a man.- Which of us is more attractive? â€" They started to ask.
The man got scared and started to think â€~If I tell that Poverty is more attractive, Wealth may get angry and go away. And if I tell that Wealth is more attractive than Poverty will be angry and curse me.’ After all he found what to say:

â€" While you are standing like that I can’t find the solution. You should walk.

So Poverty and Wealth began walking around. The man looked at them and said:

â€" You, Poverty, look great from the back while walking away. And you, Wealth, look fine in the moment of coming.
